An Extra Dose of Billy and Mandy 2/7/01 The ratings for Fox's latest reality-TV hit, Temptation Island, are as high as Mandy was during the now infamous "body shots" episode. The show skyrocketed Fox to new ratings heights with episode four, including the best score among the youngest of adults for any Fox series in more than three years.
And speaking of scoring among young adults, what will the extra week among the singles do to Mandy and Billy? We left Mandy sobbing in her bungalow at the end of the last episode. Mandy was the one, among the three remaining women, who actually wanted to view the video tape showing what their men were up to on the other side of the island. Valerie and Shannon went along only reluctantly.
However, it was Mandy who apparently suffered the biggest blow from watching the tapes, one of which showed her man Billy doing a "strip tease" for one of the single women. Although Mandy didn't particularly enjoy that one, to say the least, the most devastating of the tapes came next. This one did not show Billy at all. It showed the other men discussing Billy's reaction to watching Mandy doing body shots with one of the single men - his reaction was to seek solace in the bungalow of one of the single women he had dated.
And now Billy will have another episode to become even more involved with the girl of his choice. At the end of last week's show, host Mark Wahlberg informed the couples that they would have two more dates. The first would be with a single of their choice; the second also be with a single of their choice - but for that one they would have to choose from among those they had already dated. Wahlberg went on to say that the date would be a very special, late night date. Sounds pretty intimate. And now, Fox is adding a seventh episode, in which they will presumably find a way to top the sixth.
Before they're arrival on Temptation Island, Billy said "We really weren't worried about ruining our relationship. We looked at it more of a chance to go on a fantastic vacation, and we thought that our relationship would be strong enough to withstand any kind of temptation." Wonder if he will feel that way after experiencing an extra episode of Temptation.
