Marcellas Vows to Even the Score - by Charlie Toft
Jason wakes up first again on Saturday, but doesn't seem eager to leave his room. There's no putting it off forever, Jason: you have to break a couple of hearts today, and at least one of your nominees will be someone you've been more or less allied with for several weeks. It's down to the hard part of Big Brother now. When he finally gets out of bed for good at nearly noon, he bumps into Danielle. The day's plan still appears to be nominating Marcellas and Amy. The two of them should be safe for next week, Jason feels, because neither Lisa nor Marcellas would nominate both of them if either should win Head of Household. Jason tells Danielle she should throw the veto competition so she doesn't have to use it on Marcellas as she has promised to do. Once all are awake, they head outside for an indoor lockdown. Danielle reminds Marcellas that they have each other's backs. She tells him she thinks it's Amy's time to go (though we know she's really thinking of getting Lisa and Jason to vote out Marcellas). Danielle says that Jason needs to worry about Lisa. Marcellas believes that he and Danielle have been the strongest players in the game, and that Jason should respect that. Marcellas still feels that the two of them plus Jason should be the last 3. The epiphany from last night, when the houseguests seemed to have recriminations about all the nasty things they've said about those who have been evicted, are now forgotten, as a new round of Roddy-bashing commences. Amy isn't there, so she gets bashed too-Marcellas accuses her of turning into Chiara after Chiara was evicted. Danielle and Lisa are a bit more sympathetic, saying that everyone was taken in by Roddy, including a lot of people who fell on their sword for him and got evicted. Marcellas says that while he may have said some mean things now and then, there's no way his actions can be compared to what Amy has done. Jason pulls Amy aside to tell her she'll be nominated. She guesses the other nominee will be Marcellas, and Jason doesn't correct her. He's apologetic and tells her he hates having to do this; he feels responsible whenever he sees the pictures of the evicted Gerry and Eric. He lets Amy know she should use the Golden Veto on herself if she happens to win it. Marcellas had previously said everyone should try not to create drama if they are nominated-you have to expect it this late in the game. Now, just before the ceremony is to start, Marcellas sings a different tune, saying that Jason should be mindful of the things he has done for him. Amy sounds more sanguine; she's spent much of the afternoon talking about dove hunting, and she's talked wistfully of being back for the season with gun in hand. Back after the nominations, Marcellas can be heard saying out loud he knows someone had to be put up with Amy. But privately with Danielle, he's angry. He thinks it's wrong that he's being nominated yet again because of his friendship with Amy. He doesn't know why his ally Jason would nominate him instead of Lisa, because he's been the stronger player (sounds like a good enough rationale for a nomination, doesn't it?) But he says it will be an easy week in the house, since no one will vote for Amy. Danielle asks Marcellas if she should still try to veto him. He says no; just make sure you vote for me. Talking to himself later, Marcellas vows to even the score with Jason next week if he's still around to win Head of Household. He is aware of the cameras following him and he snorts that they aren't going to get what they want-i.e., a tantrum. He sounds angry as he says this. The houseguests are called into the Diary Room to say a few things about 9/11. Afterwards, Jason discusses nominations with Danielle. He's feeling guilty, but says he didn't think he had an airtight deal with Marcellas, and that once Marcellas leaves a distraught Amy will be easy to beat. He's second-guessing himself already: should we use the veto? And if so, on who? Danielle is trying to calm him down. Jason is concerned now about the implications of Marcellas staying in the house-he's worried about him maybe winning the Golden Veto. Playing cards with Lisa, Marcellas says they all need to keep the veto away from Amy, who doesn't really deserve to be there anymore. As we know from the hours she spent with Roddy these last few weeks, if there's one thing Lisa can do, it's endlessly listen to an egomaniac. She's noncommittal except for general agreement that Amy is tired of the house and the game. And everybody seems to be getting tired of house life, frankly-perhaps the lack of food is taking its toll. By early evening they're already wondering what to do. A half-hearted attempt to play charades goes nowhere. Marcellas is still irritated by his nomination, however. He tells Amy that he just made a Diary Room statement that he has played the game with great dignity and loyalty. He's really starting to wonder why Jason nominated him and not Lisa; whether it's possible Jason has deals with Lisa and Danielle that he doesn't know about. I've helped him so many times, and all Danielle does is tell him how to vote, he gripes. Amy says he just should ask Jason what his reasoning was. She's agreeing with him that Jason made a disloyal decision that will hurt him next week. Marcellas now says he should have kept Roddy. He calls Jason's nomination "an unreal betrayal," and more or less promises he will nominate Jason and Danielle next week if given the chance. He says he'll have a talk with Jason and get to the bottom of this. A little bit later, Danielle suggests that if Marcellas has anything to say to Jason, not to make him feel cornered. The night drifts into dueling card games (suggestively, Jason and Danielle playing one; Amy and Marcellas the other, with Lisa just hanging out). There's a little mild teasing of Jason for his continuing crush on Chiara-Danielle says that her demands for him to rub her feet were disrespectful, but Jason says he felt he had to do it as part of the game. He says that he knows they are complete opposites and a relationship wouldn't be wise. It's midnight on a Saturday, but these houseguests are bored into oblivion and are in bed already. Before heading off to his own room, Jason asks if they think the gang will stay in touch. Danielle says she hopes so. Amy is skeptical, but Jason has promised to take her to the fair. They always make these promises, but it is only a game in the end, and one that is really losing steam with only 5 houseguests left. Perhaps the Golden Veto will liven things up.
