Day 44 August 22, 2002 - Live Feed Updates  from BB3 Updates.com

Chiara gets the boot, Roddy gets Woobie - by Charlie Toft

It's the last day in the Big Brother house for either Roddy or Chiara, and when you factor in the departure of Josh last week, the house is getting just a little bit dull. If not for the return of Amy, watching Gerry doing laundry at 8 AM might be close to the emotional high point of the live feeds every day.

Upon awakening, Chiara says that she hasn't slept well, and she tells Danielle some of what's been bothering her. She has found out that Danielle talked Amy out of nominating Jason, and wonders why, since that is (in Chiara's view, anyway) what has led to her apparent eviction. Danielle answers that she's close to both her and Jason, and had hoped to use the veto to save her. Chiara wants to know if she also promised something to Amy, considering that Amy was so upset the previous day, but Danielle denies that she did, though she can't speak for others.

Danielle continues to have to finesse her conflicting promises, though she does insist that she kept her word to Chiara. Moments later, she tells Marcellas that she knows Roddy will be coming after her now-he's figured out she is his main opposition. Danielle then fills Lisa in: Amy told Roddy about what they were planning, and he told Chiara, and both Chiara and Amy have since confronted her. Danielle promises revenge against Amy.

The houseguests lie in the sun in the early afternoon. There is a structure in the yard with booths for the various houseguests, apparently for the next Head of Household competition. Marcellas "frolics" in the backyard. Chiara asks Jason if he did what she requested (voted to evict her) and he says he did. He also confirms that Amy did want to see Chiara leave, but says he made no commitment to her personally. He tells her that he hates the game-perhaps the first time Jason has said that. Roddy approaches them and tells "J-bird" that he has to "take care of" whichever one them remains in the game. He's been wearing just his underwear, for some reason.

Primping for the live show gets under way. Amy is pretending to be a bad actress reading her lines, and struggles with her move out of the head of Household lair. An hour before the show begins, Chiara breaks down in tears and has to be comforted by Jason and Danielle. As show time approaches, everyone looks a little down, Danielle in particular.

When the feeds are restored, the mood hasn't improved much-in fact, the houseguests are taking the loss of Chiara harder than any of the other evictions. Lisa is in tears. Apparently Chiara asked Lisa why she voted against her as she was on her way out of the house. Lisa feels guilty now, feeling as if her vote was based on spite.

Danielle, who hadn't told her alliance partners that she was voting to save Chiara (thereby managing, as best as she could, to keep her word to both Amy and Chiara), tries to tell Lisa that Chiara will understand once she sees the tapes-"seeing the tapes" is an all-purpose answer anymore in the house. Lisa admits that she wonders if the game is turning her into a bad person, and Danielle says that the game is causing her stress-bad sleep and loss of appetite.

Eventually the card games, and the Roddy/Gerry chess game, get going again. There's none of the typical post-Head of Household scheming, certainly none from the new head honcho, Jason. Roddy is waxing nostalgic on the subject of Chiara, who was thoughtful enough to leave him "Woobie", her blanket. He tells Lisa that in the last few days, Chiara seemed to finally understand some of the things he's been trying to get across to her.

The houseguests come back inside after a lockdown and notice that the kitchen table has been downsized to reflect the shrinking house population (there are 8 chairs around the table however, which prompts some paranoia about another possible return). Jason enters his new room and checks out the various goodies. As is usual on Thursday, the houseguests chat about new sleeping arrangements. Roddy says he wants to bunk with Jason tonight-he's kidding, but Roddy-time alone with Jason is what the others no doubt fear. Roddy returns his key to the wall and asks Jason to open his bag. He shows them the blanket that Chiara left on top. Roddy starts to cry, and the others seem surprised.

Exercising outside, Gerry becomes the first player to bring up the game, asking Roddy if he has any idea what Jason might do (Roddy doesn't). The gang prepares to eat their buffet-style dinner, but Danielle seems too upset to eat. She goes into the bedroom and stars crying. Roddy comes in to console her. She says that she hates the game, and Roddy says, hey, it's only someone getting evicted from a reality show, not life and death.

After Roddy departs, Lisa tells Danielle she can't imagine how the game can get harder, after having to vote against both Eric and Chiara in the same week. Danielle says she doesn't want to have to tell Jason what to do now, and Lisa predicts that he won't be able to bring himself to nominate Roddy.

Roddy then approaches Lisa for a chat. Lisa is emotionally on edge, and Roddy, who tends to recognize such things, approaches her for a chat. She says that the game is forcing her to put up walls, and there are "snakes" in here. She says that Danielle is trying to keep her focused on the game, but she thinks it's important to stay true to herself too. This past week's choice was very difficult for her. He suggests vaguely (as he did yesterday) that they might be able to work something out.

Out in the hammock with Amy, Marcellas is venting about Danielle and Gerry, for reasons not quite clear, although he seems to think that Danielle's recent crying was a con job. He uses some of his most vicious language yet to attack Gerry-one of the nicer comments is that he wishes Gerry would get crushed between the Diary Room doors.

Danielle gets her first time alone with Jason in his new room. She confirms that she was the vote to evict Roddy, and that Lisa did not know. Jason doesn't seem too surprised. He tells her that he doesn't know what he'll do yet, though of course she will be protected. Danielle reveals that Chiara had told her and Lisa that Jason couldn't be relied on-a possible goad if Jason has second thoughts about nominating Roddy.

Marcellas is in the bedroom later talking to photographs and generally behaving like someone out of touch with reality. He has the pictures are "talking" to each other and dancing. He begins speaking in odd voices and running through the house, babbling about his favorite cartoons and TV shows. The whole episode is…hard to understand. The rest of the houseguests are in the hot tub talking about how they looked as babies, and they miss the giant Marcellas freakout.

There isn't going to be any plotting tonight, sadly. Which means one busy Friday, no doubt.
