Lisa and Eric's Farewell Date - by Charlie Toft

There's a banging sound coming from the Big Brother house on Tuesday morning, but even that doesn't wake the houseguests up. Even Gerry is a little later rising than usual. It shapes up as one last day to make plans before the pivotal eviction vote, and a day of preparations for the most romantic dinner since Lady and the Tramp ate the spaghetti.

Even after being permitted to sleep in till 10:30, there's still all sorts of grumbling from the houseguests when they are awakened. The early topic of discussion is favorite TV shows, all of them on non-CBS networks, which surprisingly does not prompt a cutaway to the front of the house. Eric and Lisa are keeping to themselves more and more, with their time together nearing an end. They both agree it would be great to see Gerry nominated, so he could see what it's like, and fantasize about him getting voted out and no one getting up to say goodbye. They speculate on what might be in store for them tonight-they have somehow caught wind of the dinner, apparently.

While everyone else prattles outside, Danielle and Marcellas are inside, looking towards next week. Danielle senses that her time in the background must soon end-she says she will go all out to win Head of Household-it's too risky not to--and her three nomination choices will be Roddy, Chiara, and Josh. She believes she can win Lisa over to her side-Lisa would presumably want to support those who kept her from being voted out. Danielle says that she knows she considered a threat because she's sympathetic, but she's only sympathetic because no one knows what she's saying about them in the Diary Room. Everyone is griping at Josh this morning. Marcellas frets about possibly having to break his handshake agreement with Josh not to nominate him. Roddy complains about Josh taking credit for gaining Eric his critical fourth vote, and making deals with everyone when he has no intention of trying to win Head of Household anyway.

Danielle finds time out from making guacamole dip to make sure that Jason is on board. She tells him it's time to play-are you capable of nominating Roddy and Chiara? Jason assures her he is-both he and Roddy know that in the end, it's a game. Danielle is constantly thinking. When Jason prepares to leave so they won't be seen together, she lets him know that walking away would look suspicious. She tells Marcellas to get over his hatred of Gerry-there's no sense getting rid of someone who will be your ally in votes. Chiara tries to sway Marcellas into keeping Eric, pulling out the Josh card-Eric wants to evict Josh as much as you do. Marcellas replies that Lisa also wants to evict Josh. Chiara doesn't have a good answer for this.

There's the usual amount of lying about outside, with Jason very reluctantly applying tanning lotion to Gerry's back. The decision has been made to let Eric and Lisa have the bedroom to themselves the next couple of nights, so Chiara and Marcellas spruce it up. Lisa and Chiara talk about how they wound up on the show. Jason asks Danielle to give him cornrows-what brought that question on? Chiara is having guilt feelings over having to vote to evict Lisa, and Roddy tries to reinforce her courage. Roody appeals to her on both a personal level (Lisa doesn't like her) and a selfish level (we're in deep trouble in the game without Eric) Danielle is also giving reinforcement, to Jason-when Josh starts yelling at him for something, Danielle tell Jason to let Josh know it's not acceptable. Jason does this, in his low-key way.

Gerry lets Marcellas know that he has a meeting planned with Roddy, but reassures him that he's still planning to cast the deciding vote to evict Eric. Before dinner, Marcellas tells Lisa that he'll be voting to keep her, and they should talk again when this is over. Lisa says she doesn't want to know where the votes are coming from; Marcellas does know but isn't telling. He says that getting Gerry and Josh out is still his main goal. Everyone is waiting for sunset so the dinner can be served. The houseguests have received another little game that appears to be practice for a future food challenge. Roddy talks about his movie that's in the pipeline. Chiara mentions the irony of having been cast as an All-American girl, and then says she would never date a black man or an Asian.

Eric and Lisa get dressed up; they're trying to keep their dinner a secret from the others (they apparently don't know the houseguests are in on it). Roddy once again picks Jason's brain regarding the popularity of the show on the Internet and the prevalence of Big Brother fan sites-there seems to be one of these conversations every day. Chiara gives Jason her rationale for voting out Lisa. The dinner table is set up on the basketball court. Josh is the maitre d' and Chiara is the waitress. Dinner is chicken breasts, bread, salad, champagne, and dipped strawberries-peanut butter and jelly just wouldn't be the same. The couple is nervous and more than a little cute. Eric toasts the start of a relationship. Lisa calls it the most romantic thing she's ever seen. A gift has been prepared-a framed photo of the two of them in the hammock.

Chiara leads them into "their" bedroom. Eric looks a little embarrassed and says he'd really just prefer their regular bed, but they decide to go along with it. They spend their first few minutes in the room looking at a globe and then head back out to the hammock. They predict that the Roddy/Chiara relationship is not built to last. There's a brief return to scheming. Jason feels guilty about not telling Roddy that he's voting to evict Eric. Danielle orders him not to-"order" is definitely the right word. Gerry tells Marcellas that if Roddy gets nominated next week, it would force Roddy to come to him for help. It seems to be an admission that Gerry's loyalty is negotiable, but Marcellas doesn't say anything about it. Chiara tells Roddy that Jason asked her why she was voting out Lisa; Roddy is mildly interested in why Jason would ask that question.

Marcellas has been talking about how bored he's been today. Probably not coincidentally, he decides to go a little nuts tonight with Chiara. They put plants around their bedroom and pretend that they are camping in the jungle. They laugh hysterically and drive Jason half crazy. The three of them tell would-be ghost stories, the whole episode being a reminder that the human mind may not have been built to withstand a month in the Big Brother house
