Eric & Lisa Have One More Week - by Charlie Toft
Here's a bold prediction: Gerry is not going to be by himself for 3 hours every morning. Not this week, when he gets to "run the game." There will likely be a line outside his door at 7 AM every day. Today, it's Marcellas who has Gerry's ear early, at 7:30. He appears to be trying to tilt Gerry into nominating Roddy. Gerry says that he owes Roddy one, and is thinking more along the lines of Eric and Lisa-they appear to have the stronger bond. He says he wants the Final 3 to be the two of them plus Danielle. Gerry is wondering about Jason-he's a tough one to read. Marcellas tells him that Jason knows who his friends are and who his enemies are. He tells Gerry that it's important to nominate strong players rather than weak ones, and again blames himself for not nominating Eric or Roddy when he had the chance. The rest of the houseguests are by 9, waiting for the food competition. Word of Gerry's presumptive nominees is getting around. Some of the houseguests are talking about death, and Roddy gets emotional remembering a boyhood friend who died of cancer. He appears to be genuinely broken up, though with Roddy one can't be too careful. He tries to make some deep points about the Ultimate Meaning of Life and gets frustrated when Chiara seems unable to follow his reasoning. The food competition requires the houseguests to change into ridiculous-looking "diner" shirts, and with 8 competitors they are again split into teams-peanut butter and jelly for the losers again. The game involves faceoffs between members of the two teams, who have to bid on how much of a particular item can be eaten and how quickly. Chiara (red team) bets she can eat 12 Brussels sprouts in 2 minutes, and loses. Jason (blue team) is challenged to eat 8 Twinkies in 2 minutes, and easily accomplishes the disgusting feat. Danielle gets the red team on the board by eating jalapeno stuffed olives, but Marcellas puts it away for the Blue by downing chicken livers. Following the competition, Gerry continues his bonding attempts with Danielle and Marcellas. He tells Danielle that he wouldn't mind losing to her-a young mother looking to buy a house, and says he was jealous of Marcellas's relationship with Amy (Marcellas replies that that relationship almost cost him the game). By 1:30 the houseguests have drifted off for naps, except for Gerry, who now gets in the exercise he missed this morning and finishes up by wolfing down junk food. Roddy has it out with Chiara later over the issue of her alleged disrespect towards him. He says he's afraid to show his true feelings to her, but it mostly seems to be a temper tantrum from someone who for once wasn't shown complete deference. As the time for nominations approaches, Gerry makes it official to Roddy: it will be Lisa and Eric nominated. Josh is already predicting an easy eviction for Lisa. Card games are helping to kill the time for the others. The feeds go dark around 4:45 PM house time, and stay dark for a good hour, perhaps so we'll miss the immediate emotional reactions to the nominations. We get a few clues: Josh asking Lisa if Gerry talked to her beforehand, Eric and Roddy talking about how great it will be when it's finally Gerry's turn to go (where have we heard that before?) Gerry is in the Head of Household room talking about PMS and diets with Chiara, for reasons unknown. There's a general lack of nomination talk-Josh is being kept off camera early on, however. It takes about 45 minutes before we get actual on-camera confirmation that Eric and Lisa are the nominees. Roddy has already said he won't use the veto. Lisa sounds downcast, but just before the nightly abs class Danielle tells her to stay loose-she has something up her sleeve. Danielle was shaken a bit during the nominations, when Jason's key was the last one pulled out. She tells him she won't be able to handle it if he leaves before her. He answers that they will be the last two remaining. Marcellas and Danielle pull Chiara aside for a talk. They ask Chiara to trust them-they will try to win the veto so the nominations don't get changed. Chiara is worried about being a potential replacement, or about being a future target if she wins the veto and decides to use it. She also thinks that Jason will be a vote to save Eric, but the others know something about Jason that Chiara doesn't. In fact, it appears that Danielle wants to throw her alliance behind Lisa and vote to evict Eric, which would both bind the women closer to her and dramatically weaken Roddy. Lisa emerges from a long Diary Room session to whine about how unfair it is that the good people are leaving early. Roddy suggests that Lisa try to persuade Gerry that (assuming someone gets the veto and is willing to use it) Josh should go. Otherwise, Gerry himself is dead meat next week. Roddy then tells Chiara about the various deals he's been cutting, and how that could make it hard to decide who should go in future weeks. But he says that it might next be time to get rid of Marcellas. Eric and Lisa get the opinion of Marcellas about whether she should talk to Gerry. Lisa is hung up on the idea that Gerry must "hate" her more than Josh. She wants to bring up the "Nazi" talk, not that Gerry is unaware of it. Opportunity to talk to him will have to wait a bit though, as Gerry bores everyone to tears in the hot tub with a story about his alleged ancestors in the royal House of Lancaster. When she does make it into Gerry's lair, he tells Lisa that it wasn't personal and he has no illusions about Josh-just an attempt to go after serious threats. Her get-rid-of-the-bad-people (i.e. Josh) pitch isn't successful. Gerry again uses chess analogies to explain his reasoning, which drives the others crazy. He tells Lisa he might be open to a deal, and she reports this news to Eric, who says that the guys (Marcellas and Roddy) might be the ones who can get through to him regarding Josh. Danielle heads in to talk to Gerry and strategize. She discovers that Gerry really wants Eric out, and she implies that she has the votes to make it happen. She spells it out moments later to Jason and Marcellas-evict Eric now, then put up Roddy and Josh the following week, and use a presumably grateful Lisa to get rid of Roddy. They sound very pleased with themselves; if it worked it would be the Big Brother equivalent of a coup.
