Today's Big Excitement: Personal Grooming - by Charlie Toft

After the emotional outburst of last night, Wednesday is a day to deflate. Everyone has so come to terms with the impending eviction of Amy that the actual voting today is completely anticlimactic. Big Brother has decided to wake the houseguests up early today-by 10 AM! The torturers. It's so early, Gerry only has time to run through each part of his morning routine twice. Eric mentions that Lisa was "codeined out" overnight in an effort to get her a good night's sleep.

While most are knocking about aimlessly waiting to vote, Josh has chosen to bend Danielle's ear on the subject of Gerry-it's time for him to go, Josh says. Danielle responds with platitudes about how the "decoy" isn't always safe and how everyone has to go with their gut instincts. Josh also tells her that he regards her as an ally. Danielle can afford to let him think that, as her thoughts are on the two couples. Late morning and the houseguests drift in to vote-Roddy and Chiara are still yet to get out of bed. Lisa and Eric lie out in the sun, and Eric tries to talk her into sunning her inflamed rump a little. The sooner it all gets healed, he tells her, the sooner she'll be able to wear her thong again. Eric has his priorities straight.

The gang gets their Subways, not a small issue today as they are somehow running out of regulation food. Josh gets in the ear of Jason now, telling "the kid" that Gerry's plan is to nominate the couples, but his own plan is still to nominate Gerry. Josh heads outside to give his Gerry insights to Roddy, who obviously couldn't care less. You wonder sometimes if anyone has ever been more clueless about how they come off than Josh. Josh has given a Joe Namath guarantee that he'll win Head of Household, which would no doubt liven things up all next week. There's general cleaning going on this afternoon-vacuuming, laundry-which isn't very lively. Lisa and Chiara are lying out-Lisa in particular is enjoying her re-introduction to the routine and the sun-and discussing their respective parents' likely reactions to the snuggling they've each been doing.

During an indoor lockdown, Gerry insinuates himself into a discussion of childbirth-Danielle told the younger women about the joy of epidurals; Gerry said his wife had their kids naturally. Gerry my man, that won't help you at all. Chiara talks about wrecking her Jeep in high school, the end result of which was that her father bought her a new car. That isn't going to help her at all. Roddy is disenchanted. It turns out that life as the Head of Household isn't everything it's cracked up to be. He feels that he has to tone down his normal sense of humor in the house, since he can't be sure of how people will react (he doesn't call the other houseguests his inferiors, but you sort of get the message). He believes that he'll come across as arrogant (no!) if he doesn't talk about pop culture. Chiara, naturally, reassures Roddy that he's a man of great depth.

Marcellas has seemed a little subdued-whether he's still a little nervous about the vote or sad about Amy's impending departure, it's hard to say. But later on Amy joins the group in good cheer. She's waiting to see her dog Bucky, and appears to have reached the acceptance stage. There's some lounging around the hot tub with cigars.talk that Jason is getting good with the snappy retorts.speculation on who their Internet lookalike is.it's not very exciting tonight.

No doubt bored stiff or just punchy, the male houseguests decide they want facials, which leads to Chiara popping blackheads all over Roddy's face, which seems to be one of her favorite leisure activities. It's just more of the weird mutual grooming that we've seen so far this season. The men are soon wandering around with masks on. We get men rubbing cream on their faces, in the unforgiving bathroom mirror. Marcellas gives them all tips. It's all pretty horrifying, though not nearly as much as it would have been if Gerry had gotten a facial.

2 AM and all the houseguests are nearly asleep, save for Roddy and Chiara, spending their final night in the Head of Household Room. They're somewhat worried about Josh, but are especially worried about the potential of Gerry to cause trouble. Gerry, they feel, would almost choose as his nominees at least one and perhaps two from the couples group. Gerry as head of Household would be ideal, but right now anything is better than the deadly dull pre-Amy-goodbye status quo. When makeup application is as good as it gets, we have a problem.
