Amy Hates Chiara - by Charlie Toft

Valium, human bowling, and a day-long temper tantrum don't quite liven up Big Brother this Sunday. The show seems to have taken on a decidedly juvenile quality, or maybe it was there all along and we just didn't notice. The last of the houseguests went to bed just before sunrise, so it's no surprising that at 10 AM only Gerry and Marcellas are awake. Gerry sits by the pool and seems to be contemplating another nap when Marcellas joins him. "There's very little to do after everyone tells their stories," says the Head of Household, and they're only two weeks into the show. Gerry responds that he has plenty of stories to tell; left unsaid is that no one else wants to listen to him and he's unlikely to be around much longer. There's a talent show scheduled today, but Marcellas says he won't be attending.

Marcellas uses the alone time to tell Gerry that he expects Danielle won't make any changes to the nominations, and regardless of what Danielle does, Gerry won't be nominated. He also suggests that if Gerry wins Head of Household, he shouldn't nominate Danielle or Amy-they're not exactly calling themselves an alliance but they are shaping up as one. Danielle's desire to evict Gerry ASAP isn't mentioned. Gerry tells Marcellas that it's as if he came here to do one thing-veto Marcellas' nomination-and now it seems that his work is done and he's bored. The two men criticize Tonya, and Marcellas observes that she has said she wants her house and her dogs back, but he's never heard her say that about her children. The discussion then turns to Amy, and how she shouldn't do things to draw negative attention, such as competing with Chiara for Roddy's attention.

Speak of the devil: as Chiara and Tonya wake up, a new round of Amy bashing begins. Tonya says she could beat out Amy for any guy, despite the age difference. That does depend on whether the average man would be attracted to a woman who wears the name of her plastic surgeon on a t-shirt, as Tonya is doing today. But based on the work he did, it's probably a safe bet. The topless pictures of Tonya on the internet have turned out to be the most sought-after images from Big Brother 3. The house hunks aren't terribly classy either, Eric actually asks Roddy if he got any "ack-shun" last night and Roddy answers, "first base".

Josh approaches Amy with a message from Chiara: we need to talk. Amy says no, but Marcellas tells her it would be a good idea to try to make peace, whether she's sincere or not. Amy is still furious, and tells Marcellas that she wants Chiara and Tonya out of the house now. She goes on to say that this is what happens when you pick up drunks at the mall, referring to Chiara, who was recruited for the show at a mall. The summit meeting takes place in the Head of Household room. Chiara tells Amy that the Diary Room has been asking questions about Amy and Roddy, and asks what do they know that I don't? Amy laughs it off and swears that they're just trying to start trouble. Chiara seems to be placated, and when she leaves Amy tells Marcellas that Chiara is "needy."

Back with her friends, Chiara says she doesn't believe what Amy just told her, she knows that Amy must be trashing her in the Dairy Room. "I'm not showing my true colors," she says, insisting the she'll never trust Amy. Eric joins the tail end of this conversation and teases Chiara for being mad, wondering why women can't just say what's on their minds. Chiara proceeds to go looking for Roddy, and then opens the shower door on him. Roddy is on full-frontal display to the Internet audience for a few seconds, but Chiara assures him that the bathroom is part of the live feeds. What these people don't know about the show never ceases to amaze us.

At 2 PM the houseguests learn the results of the America's Choice poll: they'll be competing in a "human bowling" game to win the right to choose a luxury item. The competition is off-limits to internet viewers, and is won by Danielle. She selects some sort of hi-tech cardio exercise equipment. Eric and Roddy gossip about women some more, with Eric saying that Lisa is too wary of the cameras to go much farther with him, but that he just knows she's great in bed. Driving the conversation even lower, Roddy says that he'd like to "give her [Chiara] a little something." Eric isn't thrilled about the just-ended competition; why choose human bowling he wonders, when everyone could have seen them fight?

Amy is in the Head of Household room venting to Gerry, of all people. She's still mad at Chiara. Amy wants to be Head of Household just so she can nominate her, and Gerry says he'll help get her evicted. She sits down with Danielle for a bit, and then bounces back up, saying she needs a couple of Valiums. After she's called to the Diary Room, Marcellas gripes that he never has the key to his room anymore because Amy took it and is always there. A little later we see Amy in the Head of Household room with the lights turned off, looking out through the one-way windows and eavesdropping.

In the backyard, Lisa is sitting on Eric's back popping blackheads and commenting on his back hair. We wish that someone else would do something quick, so the camera can move away from this. When Marcellas arrives back in the Head of Household room, Amy vents again-"let me out, I want to go home," she says. "If Danielle vetoes someone, nominate me and vote me out". She's gotten what she came for, a little hometown fame, and now she's had enough. Marcellas stands there and listens, and then begins reminding her of all 500,000 reasons why she came here in the first place.

Roddy and Chiara share a special moment later on, highlighted by her announcement that she'd be in Playboy if asked. We've seen her naked on the feeds and our advice is that she keep her day job. Chiara tells him he's the best-looking one in the house.next to Jason. Late at night, Josh sounds out Chiara on the subject of the game: talk that he might have his nomination vetoed has died down considerably. Chiara, naturally, wants to win head of Household so she can nominate Amy. She also admits to Josh that she can't support him against Tonya. Josh brings this up later in a hot tub conversation with Roddy and Eric. The men agree that at some point the female part of the alliance will have to be broken up.

Very late at night, Marcellas and Danielle talk about their preferred order for the rest of the game-Josh leaving now, then Gerry, then various alliance members. Ideally, they would both be there at the end. But a lot will happen in the few weeks, and it's impossible to predict where they'll be in two months.
