Day 8 July 17, 2002 - Live Feed Updates  from BB3 Updates.com

Voting for the First Eviction - by Charlie Toft

The live feeds are down! Panic in the streets! Get Arnie Shapiro on the phone pronto! OK, that’s a bit of a stretch. But the live feeds are down for a few hours early Wednesday morning. Fortunately, service is restored by 10:00 AM Big Brother time, which means that if anything was missed, it was most likely another Gerry/Lori “great conversation”. No problem, we can rattle those off in our sleep at this point. The last two evenings have gone very late and the toll is beginning to show. The houseguests seem haggard and the conversation is boring. Hanging over everything is the eviction voting, which will take place all afternoon. We watch the houseguests make their trips to the Diary Room to cast their ballots.

The trio of Tonya, Lisa, and Chiara are sunbathing and napping. In keeping with the apparent full disclosure policy on matters personal, Lisa announces that she has PMS. Josh comes over and sulks. He won’t talk to Gerry anymore, but in front of the others he talks about nothing but Gerry; he’s alternately funny and frightening. He can’t stop repeating that Gerry has gotten Marcellas to completely buy his version of events, but when Marcellas gets out of the house, he’ll learn the truth. Amy plays cards with the usual Gerry/Danielle/Jason group. Amy has been more outgoing since her nomination--whether out of increasing comfort in the house or fear of eviction, it’s hard to say. Jason tells her that it’s nice to see her happy and flirting, and Amy replies that it takes her a while to warm up to people.

Marcellas is discussing the implications of tomorrow’s head of Household competition with Gerry. He reiterates how important it is that one of them wins Head of Household. The first order of business is to eliminate Josh. Gerry mentions that perhaps Josh could be kept around a bit longer, since he’s become so irritating he may no longer be a threat. They agree that if they want Josh out, Lisa would be the smartest candidate to put up against him. At least someone is still talking to Gerry. The portly teacher seems to be fast running out of supporters. Lori is moping around and has nearly disappeared from view. At this point even Amy trashes Gerry because she knows he voted to evict her. She tells Josh that Gerry told her she’ll be leaving, but Josh tells her again that she’s safe.

Lisa is spending her last night as Head of Household. She has a talk with Marcellas, asking him if he’s angry over his nomination. He says no, that he realizes Josh was the instigator of the alliance and the push to nominate him. Lisa seems to agree with him that Josh has been obnoxious, but tells Marcellas that Gerry was equally in favor of nominating him at the start and is just as big a negative influence now. Marcellas jokes about using the Diary Room as his sanctuary from the stress of nomination, and how the Big Brother staff members have to kick him out.

Amy is packing. She tells Marcellas that she knows it’s a formality, but it’s required. She fills him in on her run-in with Gerry, who supposedly told her she was “played” by the alliance and will be evicted. She now feels stupid for having trusted Gerry. After packing, Amy and Marcellas head out to the hammock, where they tell each other about the Diary Room questions about their “odd couple” friendship. Amy tells him that Roddy gave her a kiss earlier. She’s the latest in the house with a big Roddy crush. Amy mentions that there are more important people to go before they get Josh out—she no longer thinks he’s all that evil. Marcellas sounds unconvinced.

In keeping with her new sociability, Amy says she’ll throw a slumber party in her room. Lori, who has been slumbering much of the day already, misses it but all the others are there. Roddy and Amy lie in one bed, so Chiara moves on Jason to be her “date” for the evening. Gerry is present but completely ignored. The free-for-all conversation lasts for a brief time and the group splits up around midnight.

Chiara is in bed with Roddy now, and asks him if he’s had fun with the other girls. He makes a pointed remark about being interested in Amy; when met with silence from Chiara, he admits perhaps he shouldn’t have said that. Roddy’s probably kidding, but we now have the prospect of a love triangle and confrontations between Amy and Chiara to look forward to. The houseguests turn in early by Big Brother standards because tomorrow is a big day. The houseguest population will be reduced by one and a new Head of Household will be selected.
